Three strangers arrive at a chateau inhabited by four women believed to be vampires. But are they vampires or are they under the hypnotic machinations of an old man? Rollin shot the first part of this film as a short subject to be billed with an American vampire film bought by a distributor that just over an hour (it too was designed for double billing). His producers were impressed with what he accomplished with next to nothing and asked him to expand the film to feature length. Otoko wa tsurai yo (男はつらいよ, "It's tough being a man") is a Japanese film series starring Kiyoshi Atsumi as "Tora-san" (寅さん), a kind-hearted vagabond who is always unlucky in love. Spanning 48 installments (1969–95), it was considered by the Guinness Book of World Records to be the longest movie series in the world, although it was recently replaced by the Huang Fei-Hong series. All of the films (except episodes 3 and 4) were directed by Yoji Yamada, who also wrote all the screenplays.

When a franchise has reached a certain point, it has to decide whether to reinvent itself or start all over again. The latter is exactly the case with The Testament of Dr. Mabuse, thirty years after Lang’s original. The usual line is to say that it is not up to Lang’s original, but that might make us miss something. Examined on its own, the film is a formulaic, though competently produced B-movie that has Mabuse-like crimes taking place again after many years. These years include those the evil doctor has spent in a mental hospital lost in some unreachable state of psychosis. That leaves the Inspector (Goldfinger’s Gert Frobe, under a different name than he was in Lang’s last film, The 1,000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse reviewed elsewhere on this site). Who is committing the crimes then? What is the key to the criminals’ movements? How did they get access to Mabuse’s private information on how to pull off these crimes?

This is the second film based on the character of Stanislas Dubois, a reluctant spy. The story begins with Stanislas getting a bad review for an autobiographical volume he has just published. Incensed, he goes off to track down the author to give him a black eye, and instead stumbles onto a ditzy blonde and a mortally wounded man who has the time to utter an enigmatic phrase, 'Thirteen coffins', before snuffing it. This entry in the series is a bit more slapdash than the first one, but it is still extremely entertaining (by 60s spy spoof standards) and contains some highly diverting fight scenes of the sort that became Marais's trademark at that period.

Romantic comedy which has Warren Beatty and Susannah York as a pair of amorous adventurers in the gambling places of London and the Riviera. Beatty is Barney Lincoln, a rambling gambling man who scores sensational wins at poker and chemin de fer because he has succeeded in marking the original plates for the backs of all the playing cards manufactured in a plant in Geneva and used in all the gambling joints in Europe. In his gambling depredation, Beatty is spotted by Angel McGinnis (York), the daughter of a Scotland Yard Inspector 'Manny' McGinnis (Clive Revill) on the lookout for a man to do a job. The inspector enlists Barney's help in playing poker with a shady London character whom Scotland Yard wants to force to financial ruin.

When the "Carry On" British comedy film series reached its creative peak in the late 1960s, the producer decided to try the formula out on television with "Carry On Christmas" in 1969. The result was a parody of A Christmas Carol, with Sid James as Scrooge, but the show was even less plot-driven than the films themselves were. This, the best of the Carry On Christmas specials, is a great showcase of the crew's comedic talents. Terry Scott, Charles Hawtrey, Hattie Jacques, Barbara Windsor, Bernard Bresslaw, Peter Butterworth, and Frankie Howerd also star.

It was the second time Delon had teamed up with René Clément:their first collaboration produced a great thriller "purple noon" .The second attempt produced a would be comedy which is not funny at all.The plot deals with fascists in charge of finding the antifascist printing houses.It's repetitive ,ponderous and boring.Barbara Lass was then Roman Polanski's wife and they came to France together at the turning of the decade.Lass's moment of glory was short-lived but Polanski would direct a segment in "les plus belles escroqueries du monde" a couple of years later.

Leslie Caron gets top billing and the lion share of screen time in "Fanny" but Maurice Chevalier steals the show from the first frame. Making its DVD debut, this 1961 film is based on the Tony-Award musical of the same name. Despite getting its start way back in 1954, the story is surprisingly risqué and contemporary, dealing with issues such as illegitimate children, premarital sex, cleavage and adultery. Because of Chevalier and the cast, those issues are presented in a jovial, comedic way until the third act, when the humor and levity the production is built on is jettisoned in favor of mediocre melodrama.

Hercules (Reg Park) and King Androcles (Ettore Manni) are on an ocean expedition when Androcles is washed overboard during a storm near a mysterious island. Making landfall, Hercules finds that the island is the kingdom of Atlantis, ruled by a beautiful, cruel, and ambitious queen, Antinea (Fay Spain), who controls a mysterious source of power. She has transformed her personal guard into super-strong warriors -- each nearly a match for Hercules, put Androcles under her spell, and inflicted terrible wounds on her people, all in preparation for her plan to conquer the world. Hercules finds that her power stems from a source older than the gods on Olympus, one over which he has virtually no power.
